For Catholics, the tragedy is a solemn reminder of the importance of prayer, compassion, and solidarity in moments of profound suffering. As families await news of loved ones and communities grieve those who have died, the Church’s call to accompany the suffering remains especially meaningful.
The faithful are invited to join Pope Leo XIV in praying for the souls of those who lost their lives, for healing and strength for the injured, and for consolation for every family affected by this tragedy.
May the Lord grant eternal rest to the departed, bring comfort to those who mourn, and sustain the rescue workers, medical professionals, and all those serving their neighbors during this difficult time.
