The 52nd annual National March for Life, the world’s largest pro-life event, is set to take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme, “Life: Why We March,” emphasizes the core mission of the movement: to protect unborn children and support their mothers.

A Tradition of Witness

Since its inception in 1974, the March for Life has been a powerful response to the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Even after the decision’s reversal in 2022, the pro-life movement continues its advocacy, as abortion remains legal in many states. Organizers highlight the ongoing importance of the march, stating that the theme serves as “a source of renewed energy and focus so needed for this moment.”

Outgoing March for Life president Jeanne Mancini explained, “May our humble voices and peaceful presence serve as a reminder of the beauty and dignity of every human life, and as an invitation to all Americans to come together in recognition of this truth and to serve the most vulnerable.”

A New Era of Leadership

This year marks a transition in leadership, with Jennie Bradley Lichter taking over as president. Lichter, known for her legal expertise and dedication to the pro-life cause, brings a fresh perspective to the movement.

Featured Speakers

The event will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including:

  • U.S. Vice President JD Vance, the nation’s second Catholic vice president
  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Catholic leader who signed Florida’s heartbeat bill
  • Bethany Hamilton, a professional surfer and pro-life advocate
  • Lila Rose, founder of Live Action
  • Josiah Presley, an abortion survivor
  • Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune

These speakers reflect the broad appeal of the pro-life movement, uniting individuals from politics, sports, and advocacy.

Schedule and Prayerful Events

The day begins at 11 a.m. with a pre-rally concert on the National Mall featuring the Christian band Unspoken. The rally follows at noon, and the march itself begins at 1 p.m., concluding at the Supreme Court steps.

The event is complemented by prayer opportunities, including the National Prayer Vigil for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Beginning the evening before the march, it includes Mass, adoration, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Additionally, the Life Fest, hosted by the Sisters of Life and the Knights of Columbus, offers a youth-focused gathering with Mass, music, and adoration in Fairfax, Virginia.

Why March?

The March for Life stands as a testament to the sanctity of human life and the commitment to defending it. Organizers and participants aim to inspire others to join their cause, emphasizing that pro-life advocacy is about promoting the dignity of every human being and supporting mothers in need.
