Pope Francis remains under medical care at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital as he continues treatment for bilateral pneumonia. The Holy See Press Office provided an update on Thursday morning, confirming that the Holy Father had another restful night.

“The night passed quietly; the Pope is still resting,” the statement noted, adding that he resumed high-flow oxygen therapy in the morning after undergoing non-invasive mechanical ventilation overnight (Vatican News). Doctors report that his clinical condition remains stable, with no new respiratory episodes (Vatican News).

Despite his hospitalization, Pope Francis remains engaged in spiritual and administrative duties. He continues to follow the spiritual exercises of the Roman Curia via video link and recently named new bishops in Venezuela and Spain (Vatican News). His ability to maintain his pastoral and administrative responsibilities, even in the face of illness, is a testament to his dedication to the Church.

As the Holy Father continues his recovery, the faithful are encouraged to keep him in their prayers. His doctors have noted “slight improvements within a context that nevertheless remains complex,” underscoring that while his prognosis is no longer guarded, he still requires time for recovery (Vatican News).

Pope Francis has been hospitalized since February 14 for bronchitis, which later developed into bilateral pneumonia. His condition has steadily improved, but he remains in the hospital for continued care and physical therapy.

In these challenging times, Catholics around the world unite in prayer for the Holy Father’s health and well-being, asking for God’s healing grace as he continues his mission of faith and service.
