Videos of worshippers collapsing, shaking, and trembling during prayer at a recent Texas book signing have reignited debate surrounding Los Angeles-based minister Kathryn Krick, with supporters describing the events as powerful encounters with God while critics warn Christians to exercise spiritual discernment.
According to the California Post, Krick, who leads Five-Fold Church (also known as 5F Church) in Los Angeles, recently held a book signing in Houston to promote her new book, Ignite Revival. Video from the event showed attendees falling to the floor, trembling, and appearing to convulse as Krick prayed over them and signed books.
Sharing footage from the gathering on social media, Krick wrote, “How God moved in that bookstore among the people amazed us!” According to the California Post, supporters said participants experienced healing from illness, emotional wounds, and spiritual oppression during the event.
One attendee described the experience in an online post, writing, “This was one of the best days of my life! I will never forget how powerfully I was touched by the anointing at this book signing. I couldn’t stay on my feet as I stepped forward to have my book signed! So many were beautifully touched.”
Not everyone has accepted those claims without question. According to the California Post, one social media user asked why such dramatic physical reactions appear so frequently during Krick’s ministry, writing, “I’m just wondering, as a Christian who has received and seen a ton of healing, why with @apostlekathrynkrick do these people tremble and shake and seize? What’s so different about this specific healing vs others?”
The California Post reported that Krick’s ministry began approximately nine years ago after she moved to Los Angeles while pursuing careers in acting and music. She has spoken publicly about struggling with insecurity as a preacher despite believing God had called her to ministry. Her online presence has since grown significantly, with hundreds of thousands of followers across social media platforms where videos of healing services regularly attract millions of views.
According to the California Post, Krick has credited Tanzanian minister Prophet GeorDavie as her spiritual mentor, saying his guidance helped shape her ministry and her approach to healing and deliverance.
The ministry has also drawn criticism from several Protestant Christian leaders. According to the California Post, Bible teacher Mike Winger has described Krick as a “cult leader” who promotes “false teachings” and “questionable spiritual practices.” Pastor Chris Rosebrough has likewise criticized what he believes is an unhealthy level of admiration directed toward Krick rather than toward Jesus Christ.
Krick has rejected those criticisms. According to the California Post, she wrote on Instagram that opposition to her ministry is rooted in jealousy and misunderstanding, while her supporters continue to defend what they believe are genuine encounters with God.
