Pope Leo XIV Urges Daily Rosary for Peace

As the Church enters October, the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary, Pope Leo XIV is asking the faithful to take up the Rosary each day as a prayer for peace.

Speaking at his General Audience in the Vatican on Wednesday, the Holy Father exhorted Catholics everywhere: “As we begin October, the month dedicated to the holy Rosary, I invite you to pray the Rosary every day for peace in our world, according to Vatican News.

Pope Leo stressed that praying the Rosary must go hand in hand with a life of peacemaking. He called on believers to be active witnesses of Christ’s love: “May you be faithful instruments of reconciliation in your daily lives.”

In particular, he reminded Arabic-speaking pilgrims that Christians are always called to a higher witness, saying they must show that “love and pardon are greater than every wound and stronger than every injustice.”

The Pope’s appeal was not limited to one group. Addressing Portuguese-speaking faithful, he urged them to become “missionaries of peace and mercy,” while encouraging French-speaking Catholics to live as “witnesses of peace and love greater than our failures or divisions” (according to Vatican News).

By inviting the Church to return daily to this prayer, Pope Leo XIV places the Rosary once again at the center of Catholic life during a time marked by wars and division. His words echo the long tradition of the Church, which has upheld the Rosary as a spiritual weapon for peace, unity, and conversion.

As October unfolds, the Pope’s appeal reminds the faithful that every bead prayed is not only a personal devotion but a contribution to the healing of the world.
