Pope Francis continues to show signs of improvement in his health as he recovers under the care of his doctors. Despite ongoing medical treatments, the Holy Father remains in good spirits and continues his pastoral work.

According to the Holy See Press Office, the Pope’s “overall condition remains stable,” with recent medical updates confirming positive progress. Director Matteo Bruni shared that “his blood work is normal, while a recent chest x-ray indicates an improvement in his lungs.” These updates have provided reassurance to the faithful around the world who have been praying for his recovery.

The Pope is currently following his prescribed therapies while showing steady progress in key areas. “His motor skills, breathing, and the use of his voice continue to show improvement,” Bruni reported. While the Pope requires “high-flow oxygenation…mainly at night and as necessary,” he continues to engage actively in his duties.

Pope Francis remains dedicated to his work, continuing to attend to important matters from his desk. He also celebrates daily Mass, concelebrating “each morning in the chapel on the second floor of the Casa Santa Marta residence, where he continues to recover.”

While no special visits have taken place, the Pope has been meeting with “health personnel, as well as his closest collaborators.” However, in light of his recovery, the Vatican has announced that “there will be no General Audience on Wednesday,” though the “text of the catechesis prepared for the Audience” will still be made available to the faithful.

Looking ahead, Pope Francis plans to prepare a homily for “Sunday’s Mass for the Jubilee of the Sick and Health Care Workers,” and discussions regarding his participation in the Sunday Angelus are ongoing. Bruni indicated that more details will be provided “in the next briefing, scheduled for Friday, 4 April.”

As Holy Week approaches, many Catholics are eager to know whether the Pope will be able to participate in the liturgical celebrations. However, “it is premature to speculate on the Pope’s participation in the ceremonies of Holy Week,” according to the Press Office.

The global Catholic community continues to keep Pope Francis in their prayers, asking for his full recovery and strength as he continues his ministry.
