A Catholic exorcist has sparked renewed discussion about the reality of spiritual warfare after a recent interview in which he warned that the United States is facing an unprecedented level of demonic influence.
According to Fr. Chad Ripperger, the current state of the nation reflects what he described as a deep spiritual crisis. Speaking in an interview released on Good Friday, he said the country is under greater demonic attack than at any other time in its history, according to LifeSiteNews.
Ripperger explained that it has been “the common experience of exorcists over centuries” that certain high-ranking demons—sometimes referred to as “the Council” or “the Generals”—are tasked with carrying out Satan’s designs in the world. He identified five such figures that he believes exert significant influence over modern society.
In his remarks, Ripperger connected this alleged influence to cultural and legal shifts, particularly in the areas of sexual morality and the protection of life. He claimed that when society abandons moral laws, it can “cede the territory” spiritually, opening the door to deeper forms of disorder.
The priest also addressed the role of media and cultural formation, warning that repeated exposure to immoral content can shape thought patterns and behavior. He said this contributes to what he described as a broader moral confusion affecting both individuals and society.

At the same time, Ripperger acknowledged that not all human struggles have a demonic origin, noting that certain inclinations can be “psychologically driven,” according to LifeSiteNews. His comments reflect a distinction often made in Catholic teaching between ordinary human weakness, psychological conditions, and genuine spiritual affliction.
Carlson, who conducted the interview, reflected on his own evolving perspective. He admitted that as a Protestant he had once been “trained to think of exorcism as something kooky that the Latin Church does for weird cultic reasons,” but said his reading of Scripture led him to reconsider. He observed that “casting out demons is not this random thing, it is central to the Gospels,” according to LifeSiteNews.
Ripperger reinforced this point by noting the prominence of spiritual warfare in the life of Christ, stating that a significant portion of the Gospel accounts involves Jesus confronting demonic forces.
The interview also touched on broader themes, including how demons are believed to act upon individuals, the nature of temptation, and the importance of spiritual vigilance.
While the priest’s claims reflect his experience in the ministry of exorcism, the Church consistently teaches that Christ has ultimate authority over all evil. Catholics are encouraged to respond to spiritual challenges through prayer, the sacraments, and trust in God’s grace, which remains stronger than any force of darkness.

Yes, I can see and feel more demonic activity in our country USA than ever before in my 78 years of life.
Our pols have never been that decent with that foolish Vietnam war brought about by France along with
this current evil war with Iran. Believe Trump is either in league with the devil himself or has such vain regrets causing so much trouble in our world. I pray there will be more exorcists to try to control evil in America for the betterment of my children and additional generations of people.
Same age. Same experiences. Same faith, same disappopntments.
My children and my brothers and sister, all, are (were, maybe) #47 supporters.
My brothers were in Viet Nam, and are dead now.
Sister is dead, also.
A son.
I have no sympathy for a single one.
You should both pray for those afflicted among us. Hate is what the devil wants so pray for those that push hatred. God has ordained everything that will come to pass. It is our job to pray for each other that we are not overcome by evil. Sometimes we do not see or know good from evil and we must not add to hate.
