St. Francis of Assisi is remembered as one of the greatest saints in Christian history because he chose Christ above everything else.
Born into a wealthy family, Francis could have lived a life of comfort and privilege. Instead, he embraced poverty, simplicity, and joyful trust in God, dedicating his life to serving the poor, rebuilding the Church, and proclaiming the Gospel.
His deep love for God naturally overflowed into a profound respect for all of creation, recognizing every person and every creature as part of God’s handiwork.
More than eight centuries later, his witness continues to inspire people to seek holiness not through worldly success, but through humble faith and generous love.
That invitation remains just as important today.
