What St. Monica Teaches Us About Never Giving Up

St. Monica is remembered as one of the Church’s greatest examples of faithful perseverance.

As a wife and mother, she experienced deep heartache watching her son, Augustine, reject the Christian faith. Yet instead of giving in to despair, Monica turned constantly to prayer, trusting that God would continue working in his heart.

Her prayers were answered.

Augustine eventually embraced the Catholic faith, became a bishop, and is now honored as one of the greatest Doctors of the Church.

Monica’s story reminds us that God’s grace often works quietly and patiently. Even when we cannot see immediate results, faithful prayer has extraordinary power.

Today, families continue to face many challenges. Parents pray for children. Grandparents pray for grandchildren. Loved ones long for those who have wandered from the faith.

This is why Catholic Online School exists.

Catholic Online provides free Catholic education, prayers, saint biographies, and faithful Catholic teaching to millions around the world.

Every lesson, article, and prayer resource helps strengthen families and bring people closer to Christ.

In honor of St. Monica’s feast day, we invite you to support Catholic Online’s mission with a gift offered in her name. Your generosity helps share hope with families everywhere.
