St. Clare of Assisi chose a life that seemed impossible by the world’s standards.
Born into a wealthy family, she left behind privilege and security to follow Christ in poverty, prayer, and joyful simplicity. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, she founded the Poor Clares, a religious community devoted to contemplative prayer and complete trust in God.
Her greatest strength came from the Holy Eucharist.
According to tradition, when her convent faced danger, St. Clare held up the Blessed Sacrament in prayer, placing her confidence entirely in Christ. Her unwavering faith has inspired generations of Catholics to trust God in every circumstance.
