The long-awaited sixth season of The Chosen is drawing closer, and a newly released trailer offers audiences a moving first look at what promises to be one of the series’ most powerful chapters yet. According to EWTN News, the first official teaser for Season 6 was released on July 27 and centers on the final 24 hours of Good Friday, culminating in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The trailer depicts several of the most solemn moments of Christ’s Passion, including His scourging at the pillar, arrest, trials, journey to Calvary, and His final words from the Cross. For many Catholic viewers, these scenes represent the heart of the Gospel and the greatest act of sacrificial love in human history.
According to EWTN News, Season 6 will consist of six episodes. The first three episodes are scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on Nov. 15, with the remaining episodes released weekly through Dec. 6. The season’s conclusion will receive a stand-alone theatrical release on March 12, 2027.
Portraying Christ’s Passion left a lasting impact on actor Jonathan Roumie, who has frequently spoken about the emotional weight of bringing these events to life.
In an interview with EWTN News during ChosenCon on Feb. 20, Roumie reflected on the experience, saying, “For the first few months afterwards going to Mass — and even thinking about it now — I just get weepy. I get emotional. It’s hard. It’s left an indelible impression on me — mentally and emotionally sharing even just a percentage, a micron of a percentage, of the Lord’s passion; playing it and reenacting it has left me absolutely humbled and moved.”
According to EWTN News, the crucifixion scenes were filmed over a three-week period in Matera, Italy, in June 2025. During a Vatican press conference following production, series creator, writer, and director Dallas Jenkins described the filming as “the most challenging and difficult we had in filming,” adding that the experience required him to surrender everything to Christ.
Beyond the television series itself, fans can also expect new music inspired by the show. According to EWTN News, 5&2 Studios and Capitol Christian Music Group will release an album this fall featuring original songs inspired by The Chosen. The first single, “All I Need Is You,” performed by country artist Tyler Hubbard, is scheduled for release on Aug. 7, with additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.
Hubbard explained why the project resonated so deeply with him, saying, “My wife, my three kids, and I have a nightly ritual of watching ‘The Chosen.’ We really got into it! It’s a show that I love and am connected to, so I was really excited to personally be a part of the show and part of the music.”
He added, “‘All I Need Is You’ is a song that’s out of my normal country music box. It’s a song that hits close to home. I think a lot of people can relate to the need for Jesus. To write a song about something that really matters is extra special.”
As anticipation builds for Season 6, the upcoming episodes promise to lead viewers through the sacred events of Good Friday with the same cinematic storytelling that has made The Chosen one of the most widely watched faith-based series in the world.
