A prominent Catholic exorcist has warned that many of the conditions described by the Church Fathers as preceding the rise of the Antichrist appear to be developing in the modern world.
In a recent interview, Father Chad Ripperger reflected on current cultural, moral, and technological trends, suggesting that while the Antichrist may not appear immediately, the groundwork for such a figure could already be forming.
According to LifeSiteNews, Fr. Ripperger said that the situation necessary for the Antichrist’s arrival “is just about present,” though he also cautioned that the exact timing of such events remains uncertain.
Catholic tradition has long held that certain conditions will precede the appearance of the Antichrist. Fr. Ripperger pointed to the teachings of the early Church Fathers, who predicted a widespread collapse in moral order.
“The Church Fathers say there will be a ‘worldwide implosion of people’s morality’ before the Antichrist arrives,” Fr. Ripperger explained, noting that such a decline has been visible for decades. According to LifeSiteNews, he said that since the mid-twentieth century there has been “a widespread defiance of the laws of God and natural law.”
Another key factor discussed in the interview was the potential consolidation of global economic systems. Fr. Ripperger suggested that such a development could create the conditions for widespread control over populations.

According to LifeSiteNews, he said the Antichrist would likely exercise influence through economic systems, explaining that the “unification of the worldwide economy” could allow such control. However, he also noted that this level of economic integration appears to be “a little bit down the road.”
“So I don’t think he is immediately around the corner, but I could be wrong,” he added.
The priest also referenced Catholic prophetic traditions that speak of a period of chastisement and global conflict. According to LifeSiteNews, Fr. Ripperger pointed to prophecies such as those associated with Our Lady of La Salette, which describe a future war that could be severe even for those who remain faithful.
Another topic addressed during the interview was the biblical concept of the “Mark of the Beast,” described in the Book of Revelation. Fr. Ripperger warned that technological developments could one day make such a system possible.
“We’re almost there,” he said, according to LifeSiteNews, suggesting that systems tied to digital currency could potentially be used to control access to goods and services.
“They could literally just decide, unless you decide to sign off on certain things, you’re not going to have access to the digital currency that they’re going to enact worldwide,” he said.
Fr. Ripperger explained that such systems could be used to pressure individuals into compliance by limiting their ability to participate in the economy. According to LifeSiteNews, he suggested that digital currencies might function similarly to a social credit system.
“And that’s how they’ll basically starve people out if they’re not willing to sign off on the Antichrist’s rule,” he said.
When asked how Christians might respond in such a scenario, the priest emphasized the importance of fidelity to Christ above all else. According to LifeSiteNews, he explained that the mark would likely involve “something in our bodies that will give us access” to goods, potentially involving technology such as implantable chips or similar devices.
However, he stressed that receiving such a mark would involve a spiritual compromise.
“The Fathers of the Church say you’re not going to be able to get that chip without some type of renunciation of Christ,” Fr. Ripperger said.
In such circumstances, he said Christians must be prepared to choose faithfulness even in the face of hardship.
“We have to be willing to sacrifice the lesser good in order to achieve the greater good,” he explained.
At the same time, Fr. Ripperger encouraged believers not to lose hope, noting that God’s providence remains active even during times of great trial.
“God will very often provide for people. If it’s His will that people survive that time frame, He’ll make it possible,” he said, according to LifeSiteNews.
During the discussion, the priest also referenced interpretations from the Church Fathers regarding biblical prophecy, including the “abomination of desolation.” According to LifeSiteNews, he noted that some patristic interpretations see this prophecy as referring not to a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, but to a future desecration involving the Catholic Church itself.
Fr. Ripperger’s comments were part of a broader conversation on spiritual warfare, demonic activity, and the importance of remaining spiritually vigilant in a world increasingly shaped by powerful technologies and cultural upheaval.
While the exact timing of biblical prophecies remains unknown, his message emphasized a familiar theme in Catholic teaching: Christians must remain faithful, vigilant, and rooted in Christ regardless of the challenges the world may bring.
