Christian Music Surges in 2025: A Sign of Hope and Revival Among Catholic and Christian Listeners

As the world navigates economic uncertainty and spiritual searching in 2025, one genre of music is standing out for its unexpected growth — Christian and gospel music. According to Luminate’s 2025 Midyear Report, a leading industry analytics firm, there has been a “resurgence in Christian music” in the U.S., defying broader trends in music consumption.

Though overall streaming growth has slowed — dropping from 8% in 2024 to just 4.6% in the U.S. this year — Christian music is experiencing a revival. Jaime Marconette, Luminate’s vice president of music insights and industry relations, notes that “new Christian/gospel music has defied that trend.”

This growth is being led by rising acts such as Forrest Frank, Brandon Lake, and Elevation Worship — artists who are drawing in a younger, devout, and digitally savvy audience. “Younger, streaming-forward fanbase,” Marconette explained, “which is 60% female and 30% millennial,” is at the heart of this movement.

For Catholics and other Christians, this rise in faith-based music may signal more than a trend — it’s a reminder that amid cultural shifts, God is still reaching hearts through song. As mainstream pop and hip-hop dominate overall numbers, Christian and gospel music are quietly claiming their space in a noisy world, offering listeners peace, purpose, and prayer.

The Catholic Church has long recognized the power of music to evangelize and uplift. This resurgence affirms that younger generations are not only streaming — they’re seeking songs with soul. And in a time marked by instability, that desire for sacred connection is more relevant than ever.
