Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to speak at the 2026 March for Life Rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23, returning to the National Mall for the second consecutive year to address one of the largest annual pro-life gatherings in the United States.
Organizers of the 53rd annual March for Life confirmed that Vance will be among several prominent speakers at the pre-march rally, alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson and longtime pro-life advocate Rep. Chris Smith. The event draws tens of thousands of participants each year to publicly witness to the dignity of unborn life.
A spokesperson for the vice president told EWTN News that Vance is “grateful to the tens of thousands of Americans who travel to the National Mall each year to speak out in support of life and looks forward to joining them for the second consecutive year,” according to the outlet.
Vance previously addressed the March for Life in 2025, marking his first major public remarks after assuming the vice presidency. During that address, he reflected on how fatherhood deepened his pro-life convictions, saying that becoming a parent helped solidify his belief that “an unborn life is worthy of protection,” according to EWTN News. He also emphasized that the movement’s mission extends far beyond a single day, telling attendees that the March for Life represents “the work of the pro-life movement every day from this point forward.”
While President Donald Trump will not attend the 2026 march in person, he confirmed that he will address participants through a prerecorded message. Speaking to EWTN News’ White House correspondent Owen Jensen on Jan. 16, Trump described the message as “beautiful” and praised marchers, saying, “those are great people.”
The administration’s relationship with some pro-life activists has faced renewed scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly following public remarks by the president suggesting Republicans may need to be “flexible” regarding the Hyde Amendment and after the reinstatement of certain federal funds to Planned Parenthood. When asked directly about the Hyde Amendment, Trump told EWTN News, “you’re going to hear about it” in his message to marchers.
The pre-march rally is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Jan. 23, with the March for Life proceeding through Washington, D.C., afterward. For many Catholics and pro-life advocates, the presence of national leaders at the rally underscores the continued public and moral debate surrounding the defense of human life in the United States.
