Authorities have announced the arrest of a suspect in the shooting that killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk earlier this week. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was taken into custody in St. George, Utah, and is believed to have acted alone. Law enforcement officials say they have physical evidence connecting him to the crime, including digital communications, according to the New York Times.
Governor Cox told reporters, “We got him,” expressing relief that the manhunt had come to an end.
Kirk, a co-founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, was known as a powerful voice for conservative students nationwide. His outspoken style sometimes made him a polarizing figure, but he was also open about his Christian faith and frequently spoke about the importance of faith, family, and moral responsibility in public life.
Supporters and public officials continue to call for prayers for Kirk’s family and for peace on campuses across the country.
