Charlie Kirk Allegedly Faced ‘Witchcraft Curses’ Before His Death, Turned to Priest’s Prayer for Protection

In the days before his tragic death, Charlie Kirk and his wife Erika turned to prayer and the protection of the Church after hearing disturbing news that radical feminists had sought to curse him. According to LifeSiteNews, the feminist media outlet Jezebel “hired three witches to place curses on him” through the online marketplace Etsy in late August. Jezebel later published, then deleted, an article boasting of the hexes on September 8, just two days before Kirk was killed by a sniper’s bullet.

Media host Megyn Kelly shared on her podcast that Erika Kirk was especially shaken by the report of the curses. “Charlie and Erika Kirk heard about these curses, and that news genuinely rattled Erika, in particular,” Kelly said, recounting the widow’s words. Out of concern, Erika asked a priest friend to come to their home and pray over Charlie the night before his death. Kelly explained, “She loved Charlie absolutely, and she was scared when she heard of the curses Jezebel had called up, so much so that she and Charlie contacted a friend who I believe she said was a Catholic priest … and asked him to come over and pray with them, over Charlie, the night before he was murdered” (LifeSiteNews).

The Jezebel writer who commissioned the curses mocked Kirk in grotesque detail. After the third witch was contracted, the writer reportedly received “proof of the hex she had cast, ‘a photograph in flames, the edges slowly curling inward, engulfing Charlie’s ridiculous scrunched up little face,’” Kelly said, citing the publication. In the same piece, the Jezebel author gloated that to “ruin his day with the collective feminist power of the Etsy coven would be my life’s greatest joy,” later taunting, “So, did my Etsy curses work? Time will tell … For now, we can only trust in the timing of the great unknown … and to you, Mr. Kirk: May the rash come swiftly” (LifeSiteNews).

Catholics for Catholics (CFC) responded by highlighting the couple’s choice to seek spiritual protection: “Charlie and Erika Kirk had a Catholic priest pray over them the night before Charlie was killed, after an article claimed Etsy Witches cursed him,” CFC wrote in a post quoting Kelly’s remarks. “Evil must be fought with proper spiritual warfare!”

Even after Kirk’s assassination, Jezebel stood by the story. “After taking down the article following Kirk’s assassination, Jezebel said that, nonetheless, it stood by every word,” LifeSiteNews reported. Kelly interpreted this to mean that the publication, far from treating the matter as satire, genuinely wished harm on him.

Kelly gave a sober warning about the dangers of dabbling in the occult. “You’re playing with fire, messing with this stuff,” she said. “There actually are demons in this world. Calling up the spirit world, in particular the devil’s spirit world, can actually have real world consequences. … This is dangerous. It’s not a game. It’s literally evil” (LifeSiteNews).

For Catholics, the story is a stark reminder of the reality of spiritual warfare. The Catechism of the Catholic Church warns against all practices of magic or sorcery, especially those invoking demonic powers (CCC 2116–2117). The Kirks’ response, to seek the intercession of a priest and prayer, points to the only true defense: the power of Christ.
