A new report published by The Mirror states that U.S. service members have filed hundreds of complaints alleging that some military commanders described President Donald Trump as being “anointed by Jesus” in connection with the ongoing war with Iran.
According to The Mirror, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), a nonprofit watchdog organization, has received more than 110 complaints referencing briefings in which commanders allegedly framed the conflict in explicitly Christian terms. The complaints reportedly span more than 40 units across 30 military installations.
The Mirror reports that one non-commissioned officer (NCO) who attended a recent briefing told the MRFF that a combat-unit commander “urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ.”
The same NCO claimed the commander argued that President Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” and that the war was part of God’s plan, according to The Mirror.

The report also states that at least one complaint came from an NCO identifying as a Christian, writing on behalf of 15 troops — including 11 Christians, one Muslim, and one Jew — who could potentially be deployed to Iran. In an email cited by The Mirror, the NCO warned that the commander’s remarks “destroy morale and unit cohesion and are in violation of the oaths we swore to support the [C]onstitution.”
MRFF President Mikey Weinstein told The Mirror that his office has been “inundated” with complaints. He said, “These calls have one damn thing in freaking common; our MRFF clients [service members who seek MRFF aid] report the unrestricted euphoria of their commanders and command chains as to how this new ‘biblically-sanctioned’ war is clearly the undeniable sign of the expeditious approach of the fundamentalist Christian ‘End Times’ as vividly described in the New Testament Book of Revelation.”
Weinstein further stated, according to The Mirror, “Many of their commanders are especially delighted with how graphic this battle will be zeroing in on how bloody all of this must become in order to fulfill and be in 100% accordance with fundamentalist Christian end of the world eschatology.”
The Mirror also reports that President Trump said he ordered U.S. troops to continue attacking Iran for “four to five weeks,” though detailed operational plans have not been publicly disclosed.
